milan

day1

day4

Just a few photos (from +1000 !!) of my trip to Milan last week to celebrate Sarah's birthday. This is our second trip to Milan now, and it definitely didn't disappoint second time around. I've spoken to well traveled friends who continue to see Milan as one of their least favourite places in Europe... and I continue to argue back! To me, Milan is an exciting city, with new fashion/art/culture popping up everywhere, yet still steeped in tradition. It's smart, serene and chic in a way that I'm forced to believe only Italian can do.
day 1 was spent mostly traveling and settling in to our apartment, which we booked through Airbnb and couldn't have been happier with. It was right off of the Naviglio Grande canal, and literally next door to a gelateria, so couldn't have been more idyllic. The sunday market was in full swing as we arrived so, after inhaling a much needed pizza, we browsed through the stalls in the sunshine and then spent our evening watching the sun set over this fabulous city from between the spires of the Duomo

day 2 we ventured out to Lake Como. Following the instructions of Mr & Mrs Romance, which were brilliant, we spent the day floating from coast to coast, wandering through picturesque side streets and paddling in the lakes. Although there wasn't really that much to do, aside from spend spend spend in tourist trap souvenir shops, the lakes were heavenly and would make the perfect weekend getaway to wind down and relax

day 3 was Sarah's actual birthday, and so we treated ourselves to the u l t i m a t e pamper day at QC Terme, Milano. This spa was recommended to me by a friend, and when I visited it last year I couldn't quite believe that it actually existed, so had to go again to make sure. I've been to spas in England before, and while they are a treat I just feel as though other countries do it better. QC Terme is heavenly, and our day was complete luxury. From the incredible massages and all over mud treatments, to dipping in and out of the underground maze of pools and tanning and snoozing in the sun, it was the perfect way to see in 24 with Sarah. Then we headed down to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele ii to indulge in one of the most amazing dinners that I've ever had. I've learnt that in Italy if you stick to simple food choices you will never go wrong... and I've been dreaming about this tomato spaghetti ever since

day 4 was spent exploring Milan's galleries, museums and of course shops. We started our morning in the Duomo di Milano, I feel as though you could get lost trying to take in all of its wonders, and the accompanying museum will leave you in awe. After shopping, so much shopping, we spent our evening drifting down the canal of Naviglio Grande, wined and dined to a state of bliss

day 5 meant home time, slowly saying goodbye to what is easily one of my favourite cities in the world. Although I've already been to Milan twice now, I don't think I will ever get enough of this city, I'm still putting photos up on Instagram to try and convince myself that I'm not really home yet

  16. Wow! Nice pics! I love Italy and the culture, Renaissance history, food, art, etc. I've never been to Milan but I most definitely want to go. I've been to Florence and Rome though, I wish I could've stayed in Florence for more than 1 night because I just adore all the art there!
