sky high

As I've probably mentioned (once, twice, a hundred times) already, I adore autumn. But let's be honest, given the choice of trying to enjoy the beauty of the colder months whilst battling the subzero winds and rain currently sweeping through London in the name of hurricane Barney, or staying cosy and warm indoors, surrounded by good cocktails and better friends, I think we all know what the choice would be.
But why not have both?

The Sky Garden, located at 20 Fenchurch Street, boasts three floors of landscaped sky garden whilst offering 360 degree views of London, all of which have been open for the public to enjoy since the beginning of the year.

The good news is that it's completely free to visit this sky high oasis, the bad news... its neigh on impossible to book a visit. However, booking at one of the restaurants also grants you access to the gardens, and so that's what my best friends and I did. We booked for a late lunch at the Darwin Brasserie, and I can do a post detailing our experience there if anybody would be interested? But after lunch, we spent the afternoon wandering through the clouds enjoying the greenery and unparalleled views of my favourite place in the world.

The 'garden' is actually a series of planted terraces, dotted around the huge glass dome on top of the 'Walkie Talkie' building. Though they are full of incredible exotic foliage, most of the garden is actually a viewing platform and lots and lots of stairs... you have been warned! But, climbing all those stairs is definitely worth it for the view. Nothing feels quite like being in the sky while the wind whips up a storm and the autumn leaves are falling, but you're warm in the company of beautiful friends looking down on the beautiful city you call home.
